The aquarium or pond water is pumped past the housing of the Klärgerätes in a thin layer on a UV-C lamp. The UV-C lamp itself is located in a protective tube made of quartz glass and does not come directly into contact with water.
The UV-C radiation penetrates the water flowing past and kill algae cells as well as bacteria and germs. Turbidity caused by bacteria and floating algae errfolgreich eliminated. The spread sessile algae such as Filamentous algae can be rediziert because the spores are largely destroyed.
The germicidal effect also makes for healthier fish because the germs in the water and thus the risk of infection is reduced. The physical principle of radiation does not cause any change in water levels and has no negative impact on the important pollutant degradation cleansing bacteria in the filter. After a few days using the UV-C Klärgerätes the water in the pond and aquarium should be much clearer.
Tip:
If you give your starter bacteria biofilter or possibly medication for your fish into the water, you should turn off the power for several hours.
UV-C lamps have a finite life
The life is approximately 8,000 hours (about 1 year) after one year no longer effective is present and the lamp needs to be replaced.
